On November 14, 2017, Nutella confirmed on Twitter that the sweet, chocolate and roasted hazelnut spread underwent a “fine tuning”. This immediately drew the media’s attention. The changes are in its milk and sugar content. The new recipe has 8.7%powdered skim milk, instead of 7.5%. It also contains 56.3% sugar, instead of the previous 55.9%. People are claiming that the amount of cocoa that is added has been reduced. (How do they know?) Ferrero, the Italian company that makes Nutella, denies changing the amount of cocoa.  Hopefully, Ferrero will change their recipe back to the original recipe to calm the Nutella obsessed fans. “Cocoa has slipped back in the list of ingredients,” said a Ferrero worker. “As the color of the new Nutella is lighter, we assume that more milk powder was added at the expense of cocoa.” Hopefully, the new taste won’t upset Nutella fans!
