STEM night is here! STEM night is a night of science and more, where all roads lead to learning. I have interviewed famous science teacher Mr. Lenz, who has been in a couple of my articles, and here he is again!

Q: So Mr.Lenz what does STEM stand for?

A: Stem stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Q: When did you first have an interest in science?

A: My first interest in science was in first grade, when we were learning about oceans.

Q: Why did the oceans interest you? What made you go on the path of science?

A: When I began to learn about the oceans and the dolphins, I just wanted to learn more about it. Every single book that I checked out of the library was on marine biology, and my first job was actually at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland.

Q: Why is science so important to you?

A: Science is important, because it is a way to explain all that surrounds us. Science helps us understand how we work, how the Earth works, and how space works.

Q: Now back to the real topic! What goes on at STEM night?

A: STEM night is a really exciting event coming up next Wednesday the 22nd at JWMS. Stem night is an exciting opportunity for the students who are interested in any STEM subject area to showcase and present various projects, such as “trout”. It also provides the community an opportunity to see and learn the various STEM concepts presented.

Q: How do people get into STEM night, and how can they present?

A: To present at STEM night, you must fill out a slip. Mr. Howel sends out a bright yellow slip, and students take the slip, fill it out and give it back to their science teacher (who will give it to Mr. Howel).

Q: Well I think that is all I need to know, thanks for your time!

A: No problem.
